SEKEM Farms

A specially equipped tractor tills piles of compost as part of a large-scale composting operation at the Sekem farm Nov 4, 2008 in Belbeis, Egypt. Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish founded the project in 1977 on what was then barren desert, and since has grown it into a lush oasis ecompassing several farms, production plants, schools and even a local medical facility.
