United Nations contracted Palestinians build a mud brick home December 17,2009 to replace a concrete one destroyed during the 22 day long Israeli offensive one year ago in the Ezbet Abed Rabbo district in the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza. The multiple room mud homes can be built for around 10,000 dollars in one month, and are part of an initiative by the United Nations to work around the shortage of traditional building materials that have been restricted by an ongoing Israeli and Egyptian blockade while continuing to provide Palestinian families with better alternative housing.
