Egyptians move about in a village of New Gourna on the West Bank of the Nile near Luxor June 6, 2009. Provincial government officials in Luxor are moving forward with a massive redevelopment plan for the surrounding area that includes removal of older villages that were built atop ancient tombs and ruins that date back thousands of years. Villagers are being compensated with new houses in New Gourna, but locals complain the new homes are not as nice as their old houses, and too far away from their old tourism, factory, or retail jobs..(Photo by Scott Nelson, for the Times)
