Um Sayid al-Bikri (76), sits with with her son Mahmoud and his family June 6, 2009 in their traditional mud brick home built amid ruins and tombs (such as the children are playing in at right) on a hill in Gourna on the west bank of the Nile river near Luxor. Al-Bikri and the family are resisting efforts by Egyptian authorities to be evicted from their home, in order to be moved to a nearby New Gourna to make way for new archeological parks and plans made as part of a 30 year redevelopment plan of Luxor and the surrounding areas.
