Hamid Khalil, 46, holds a portrait of his late wife, Amal al Dusouqi, 43, in their apartment in Mahalet Damana, 135 kilometers north of Cairo. Khalil's wife died April 9, 2008, after being trampled in a subsidized bread line stampede near her home.
