Workers conduct routine maintenance at a small scale Central Oil Company refinery facility on the outskirts of an-Najaf in Southern Iraq September 19, 2007. The facility currently refines 10,000 barrels per day, with an eventual planned capacity of 30,000 expected over the next year or so after improvements are made and new equipment brought in. According to the Najaf regional governor, the refinery improvements are part of a broader effort to achieve provincial self sufficiency over the next few years.
