The" Almighties of Koomassi" academy football club practices in the Koomassi neighborhood of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire February 17, 2006. Trying to mimic the successes of ASEC academy, more than 300 rival football academies have been started in Abidjan. Parents hoping of their children will become national team members or pro european league players often become indebted in order to put their children into the copycat academies, which focus on football skills, but do little to educate the young Ivorians who attend them.
