The (old) Virgin Mary Church lies in still smoldering ruin August 20, 2013 a week after an attack by Muslims in the village of Nazla, located near el Fayoum, and around a 100 kilometers South of Cairo, Egypt. Christian villagers report 2 churches and a monastery in the area came under attack by their Muslim neighbors on the same day as Egyptian security forces were moving to forcibly disperse the sit-in camp of the supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi.
