AL-QAIM, IRAQ - MAY 18, 2005: U.S. Regimental Combat Team 2 Marine Lance Corporal Brandon Puhlman, from Hilliard, OH mans a remote fortified bunker position at a radio communication tower May 18, 2005 just outside the Iraqi city of Al-Qaim near the Syrian border. The U.S. military suspects that the Syrian-Iraq border has become an important transit point for foreign fighters and suicide bombers heading in to Iraq, and have recently conducted operations intended to stem the flow.
