A U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter returns across the Shomali plain east of Bagram air base June 20, 2002 after having airlifted several scrap Russian MIG fighter jet bodies (bottom,L) and armored personnel carriers (APC) from a debris field on the base. The scrap equipment was air lifted to the plain for use as targets on a bombing range used to train troops deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom.
