A Jamaican gang member wields an automatic assault rifle in a public housing hallway December 25, 2008 in a section of the gang-controlled Rema "Garrison." Gunmen in the garrisons are well armed with weapons flowing in from Colombia, Haiti and the United States and this abundance of guns is certainly one of the factors fueling Jamaica's high murder rate.
