Ethiopia's Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office, Getachew Mengestie (r) sips a cup of Sidamo cofee while speaking with sundried coffee inspector Elias Getahun February 22, 2007 in the "cupping" center of the Keffa Export Coffee processing center in Addis Ababa. Mengestie has lead the fight to trademark Ethiopian regional coffees such as Sidamo, Harar, and Yirgacheffe in an effort to protect their brand value and to raise the average market prices that Ethiopian farmers receive for their crop.
