A recent United Nations report suggested that high crime is inhibiting economic growth for the island nation, saying that if Jamaica could lower crime by even one third, it would benefit from a doubling of it's current economic growth rate. Jamaica currently endures more than 10% unemployment rate, and a negative economic growth rate.
