In April of 2007 the U.S. Army began cooperating with the nearly 200 members of the Sunni neighborhood watch group to combat Al Qaeda in the area, and since then has enjoyed a good deal of success in securing that neighborhood. Although some of the groups members were formerly members of known local insurgent groups like the "1920's Brigade", both the militia and the U.S. Army say that they have found a common enemy in Al Qaeda and have pledged to work together. ..
