The destroyed village of Juhor al-Dik is visible through a sandbagged Israeli infantry position inside a Palestinian house used by Israeli Defense Forces during the recent 22 day operation inside Gaza January 24, 2009. From the graffiti left behind on the walls of Palestinian homes, along with food wrappers, Israeli newspapers and sandbag sniper positions, it is apparent that Israeli infantry units occupied the homes of many Palestinians during the operation.
