Jamaican girls walk down a street June 17, 2008 in the Rema area of Kingston, Jamaica. Around half of Jamaican girls under 20 report having experienced sexual harassment, coercion, or rape. Teen pregnancy rates among female Jamaican teenagers are also disproportionately high and around 80% of all Jamaican children are born out of wedlock, factors which critics claim contribute in various ways to the problem of high violence in Jamaican society.
