The inner city, high crime neighborhoods of Kingston have been carved into a checkerboard of neighboring gang turfs with colorful nicknames like "Egypt", "Mexico", "Angola", and "Gaza". Many of these so called "garrison" neighborhoods are only one block long but as violent at their core as their tough sounding names might imply. Egypt, seen here December 10, 2008, is a notorious one block stretch of the Rema garrison in Kingston, Jamaica controlled by gangs.
