The tower uses the sun and prevailing winds to create a passive pressure difference and continuous breeze along shaded courtyards. Design elements like the Solar cooling towers are part of the reason the KAUST University campus have been awarded the LEED Platinum designation, a distinguished recognition of environmentally sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings.
