A 7-Up bottle production line remains halted August 04, 2007 at the Pepsi Bottling Factory in Gaza City. Because the factory, one of Gaza's largest, cannot currently import CO2 gas from Israel needed for carbonation, the factory has been closed for more than 2 weeks and nearly all of it's 200 employees temporarily laid off. The United Nations is warning of "disasterous consequences" as up to 80% of Gaza factories have either closed or been forced to reduce staff because of border closings with Israel aimed at politically and economically pressuring Hamas.
